Museum is open to public free of charge but donations, no matter how small or large, are always appreciated.   

2012 Schedule

Summer Season  (mid to late June, exact date not set and will depend on conclusion of repair project) until end of September

Tuesday through Saturday 10:30 am to 4:00 pm (Closed July 4 Holiday.)

Open Sunday June 24; one Sunday a month in July, August & September for special programming - dates to be set. (Closed Sept. 30 for exhibit installation).)

Fall Season

October 3 - 30, 2012:  Tuesday through Saturday 10 am to 4:00 pm (with some additional hours during Maple Leaf Festival Quilt Show) AND Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 pm

Closed Sept. 30, Oct. 1 & 2 & Oct. 31 for quilt exhibit installation/deinstallation purposes.

Mid-November to mid-December 2012:  Wednesday through Saturday 11 am to 4 pm.  Closed Nov. 22 & 23.  Open Sunday Dec. 2 for community event.

Photocopy charges: 20 cents per page if self-serve (researcher makes own copies on our machine) or 30 cents per page if staff member makes copies. Copies can not be made if a public program is schedule for meeting room. (Researchers using reference library in meeting room are advised to make advance appointments to avoid such conflicts.) 

Gift Shop takes cash, travelers checks, and personal checks with identification for payments.

Cold bottled water offered on site (by request) for donation.

June 1 & 2  Powers Museum sponsors Historic Downtown Carthage Art Walk -- watch for museum activities downtown those days.  Route 66 will be theme for this event.

June 24   24th Anniversary Open House at Powers Museum 

October 7 - 30  Maple Leaf Festival Quilt Show at Powers Museum

This year's focus will be on historic quilts with "stories."  Preference given to quilts with provenance from the Carthage area then Jasper-Newton-Barton Counties then quilts from elsewhere in the four-state Ozarks region.  Entry deadline will be July 31. Contact museum for further details or watch website for info by June. We are looking for quilts with stories related to history, politics or art.

October  12 & 13   Powers Museum sponsors Historic Downtown Carthage Art Walk  (Due to quilt show there will be no extra museum activities downtown during this Art Walk.)

November 30, December 1  Powers Museum sponsors Historic Downtown Carthage Art Walk -- watch for museum activities downtown during Art Walk

At Museum Loction:  Santa Surplus Sale (gently used-holiday decorations & new gift items presented in rummage sale)

Holiday Open House continues Sunday December 2

April 13 & 14  Powers Museum sponsors Historic Downtown Carthage Art Walk -- watch for museum activities downtown those days. 

May 4 Friday -- Private Meeting of Ozark Gateway Master Gardeners

May 5 Saturday -- Ozark Gateway Master Gardener Plant Sale and Powers Museum Rummage Sale; 8 am to 2 pm, Rain or Shine!  (Community-wide Rummage Sale Day in Carthage MO.)  Event will be held but there will be no access to exhibit gallery inside the museum.
