Exhibit Mission

The Powers Museum is dedicated to presenting annual rotating exhibits on local and Missouri history as well as displays on other subject areas respresented by the founding collection from the Marian Powers Winchester Estate and donations to the museum since 1988.


2017 is Carthage's 175th Anniversary - watch for new website winter launch with 2017 schedule and exhibit information.

2016 Main Gallery Exhibit (now closed)

Fashionable Ladies of Carthage - Selections from the clothing and fashion accessory collections of the Powers Museum. Exhibit will be on display in its full form until September 24.

October 4 - October 29 will feature Maple Leaf Festival 50th anniversary displays throughout the public areas of the museum including the main gallery among portions of the spring and summer fashion exhibit.

Riches from the Earth -- The Industrial Heritage of Jasper County featuring the lead and zinc mines along with its limestone quarries (MDHI site version Riches from the Earth or full exhibit version).

Selected WWI Letters of Dr. Everett Powers -- Missouri Over There featuring selected letters in museum's archival collection from Powers' service in the U S Medical Corps at Camp Dodge, Iowa


Special Traveling Exhibit Nov. to Dec. 2017  "House and Home" from the NEH on the Road program.
